If you are looking for services in your community, you can get in touch with your local AIDS Service Organization (ASO). Staff at these organizations are experienced in gay men’s health and can talk to you about many of the topics explored on this website, including where to access community support, testing locations for HIV/STIs, how to connect to HIV treatment, provide free condoms and help you find out how it may be possible to access PEP or PrEP in your community. PEP and PrEP may be difficult to get access to and your local ASO will have the most up-to-date information about how they might be available in your community.

About the Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance
The Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance (GMSH) is a network of HIV/AIDS service organizations (ASO), whose mission is to support its members in building their own capacity, and the capacity among other service providers in their communities, to offer sexual health, HIV, and other services that meet the needs of cis- and trans-gender gay, bisexual, queer, two spirit and other men who have sex with men in Ontario.
About The Sex You Want
The GMSH first launched The Sex You Want as a partnership with the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) in 2011. The resource was designed to provide gay men with information on emerging HIV prevention knowledge in a way that was sex positive, accurate, and supported guys in making informed decisions about the sex they were having. The campaign was well received by gay men and organizations providing sexual health programs for them.
Four years later, we have more knowledge supported by robust evidence on the effectiveness of HIV prevention strategies. While not all of these HIV prevention strategies, like PrEP, are easily accessible at this time, it is important that gay men are aware of them and understand how to use them effectively. The GMSH felt that it was time to update and redevelop The Sex You Want into an engaging, innovative, and interactive website that made it easy to access information on HIV preventions strategies. It was important to the GMSH that the Sex You Want translated up-to-date evidence on HIV prevention in a way that was evidence based, easy to access, sex positive, non-shaming, non-stigmatizing, and celebratory about having sex that feels good.
Find Local Guys
The GMSH worked with its creative partners Art & Science and Light up the Sky to create the revised Sex You Want campaign. This work was supported by a Steering Committee made up of Ontario knowledge experts in HIV and representatives from the following GMSH working groups: The Poz Prevention Working Group, The Gay, Bi, Queer Trans Men’s Working Group, Alliance of Aboriginal and Racialized Men’s Working Group, and the Rural Suburban Working Group. Perspectives and insights from these working groups were essential to the development of The Sex You Want.

The GMSH was also supported by a number of knowledge experts in HIV prevention and care who supported the content writer through the rigorous scientific review of the content. This included CATIE, the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) & St. Michaels Hospital.
Our thanks to all who supported the development of this resource. We hope that you find it helpful!
